In 1938 and 1939, Le Corbusier painted eight massive mu-rals in E.1027. E-1027 and Le Corbusier. The Swiss born-French Modernist architect Le Corbusier was a friend of Badovici and visited the house several times after Badovici and Gray had parted. While staying as a guest in the house in 1938 and 1939, Le Corbusier painted bright murals on its plain white walls, and sometimes painted in the nude. In 1960, Villa E-1027 is sold to Mrs Schelbert, a relative of Le Corbusier whom he brought over from Switzerland. In 1972 the screen Le Destin from Jacques Doucet’s collection is auctioned off at Drouot’s for a record price, helping Eileen Gray and her work to be rediscovered. 2018-09-11 · Le Corbusier later purchased a plot of land alongside the villa, where he built his rustic Cabanon.
